Sober housing isn’t meant to be a permanent living situation, but rather a temporary transition period that allows people in recovery to find a balance between their new lives and sobriety.
Transitional living during early sobriety can increase the likelihood of long-term sobriety. Studies have shown that a stable sober living environment can actually increase success rates and abstinence from substances.
Cornerstone sober living includes community and peer support where residents can find hope, strength and support from each other and engage in a new, purposeful sober life. Cornerstone residence offers safety and security during the most critical time in a substance abuser’s journey. It provides accountability to themselves, their roommates, and to their family.
Because a sober house has rules and regulations, residents can develop a new sense of structured independence, responsibility and accountability. Cornerstone can and will foster this growth by assisting a resident in learning how to manage money, develop new coping skills, find work, and secure education opportunities. Self-efficacy is a benefit of sober living that many people who are active alcoholics or addicts lost along the lines. All cornerstone residents are given the necessary resources and knowledge to function successfully without the need for drugs and alcohol. They become productive members of society who all have a unique and important place in the world.
Addiction treatment can set you on the pathway to sobriety, but a sober house can keep you on that road. A sober residence can be the transition you need between starting over and staying sober.
Cornerstone Residence fosters a 12-step immersion process to combat chemical dependency. We believe that in order to truly recover from alcoholism or drug addiction, you must immerse yourself in a sober, structured way of life. It is our belief that many individuals that have been unable to stay sober, missed this vital step in their recovery. We believe that individuals must recreate their lives through the guiding principles of the 12 steps.
OUR UNIQUE APPROACH
Cornerstone believes that addiction is a disease of the mind, body and spirit and that the most effective approach to addressing each of these aspects is by engaging in 12-Step Work immediately. This theory has been supported by millions of experiences from alcoholics and addicts throughout history. Cornerstone’s main goal is to help a resident achieve freedom from their disease. Our immersion program consists of strong encouragement to obtain 12-step sponsorship within the local community. By accompanying residents to meetings each evening our Behavioral Health Technicians (who are also in recovery) assist clients with obtaining sponsorship through a local member of a 12-Step Program. Each sponsor is granted the privilege to meet with residents at the sober house at every opportunity available to them. Diving into step work immediately greatly enhances the success rates of each client.
Immersion into a 12-Step fellowship fosters a lot of personal growth for a client. But it also allows the client to become comfortable in his/her chosen fellowship before moving out of Sober Living.
The goal at Cornerstone is to assist in developing a solid foundation for recovery – to assist with finding and addressing the loopholes and trapdoors into which recovering addicts so easily fall.

Family And Sober Living
One of the hardest obstacles to face while contemplating Sober Living is the separation from family and loved ones.
Here at Cornerstone, we believe that separation from our loved ones can sometimes be a barrier to treatment, which is why we make every effort to allow family contact as soon as the client is ready.
Our home – is your home.
Clients are allowed family visits on every Sunday from 12-4 p.m. Family (including children of every age) are allowed to visit each sober home to spend time with their loved one.
What about the holidays and special milestones?
Cornerstone prides itself on its ability to integrate a resident back into their family or loved one’s life. Which is why, when appropriate, we make exceptions for attendance at family events. Some of these may include.
